Meet Sunshine
A lifelong calling to care for mothers, babies, and growing families.
Sunshine’s connection to this work began long before it became her profession. Even as a young girl, she felt naturally drawn to nursing mothers and their babies, often offering to gently bounce, sway, and settle little ones.
After becoming a mother herself, Sunshine was deeply inspired by the women who supported her through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Those women became her teachers, and she was honored to apprentice alongside them as she began serving homebirthing families throughout Southern Humboldt County in 1995.
Since then, Sunshine has spent decades walking beside families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and early parenthood. Her work combines the wisdom gained through years of direct experience with continued education in midwifery, lactation, massage therapy, craniosacral therapy, childbirth education, and infant massage.

Her Journey
Rooted in Humboldt County since 1995.
Sunshine began supporting homebirthing families throughout Southern Humboldt County in 1995. Over the decades, she has witnessed families move through moments of strength, vulnerability, tenderness, discovery, and transformation.
Her experience as a midwife, doula, mother, educator, lactation counselor, massage therapist, and craniosacral therapist allows her to see families as whole people—not simply as a pregnancy, birth, feeding challenge, or appointment.
She continues to deepen her education so she can offer families knowledge that is both experienced and current while preserving the gentle, deeply human care at the center of her work.

Outside of her work with families, Sunshine enjoys kayaking, paddleboarding, dancing, gardening, and making herbal medicines.
Her connection to movement, water, plants, and the natural world reflects the grounded and nurturing presence she brings to families throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood.

Sunshine’s favorite part of this work is witnessing the connection between parents and their babies unfold. She offers knowledge and gentle support while honoring the wisdom, values, and choices each family already carries within them.
