Meet Carla

A new generation of Nueva Vida doula care.

Carla holds a special place in Nueva Vida’s story as the first standout graduate from our doula training program. Her path reflects what the program was created to nurture: compassionate presence, practical support, cultural awareness, and a deep respect for families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

Originally from Spain, Carla brings a warm, cross-cultural perspective to her doula work. She supports families with steady care, thoughtful listening, and calm reassurance as they move through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and the transition into life with baby.

Why This Work Matters

Families deserve to feel seen, supported, and steady.

Birth is not only a physical experience. It is emotional, cultural, relational, and deeply personal. Carla’s approach honors that full picture.

Her care is grounded in presence: listening closely, offering reassurance, supporting comfort, helping families prepare, and respecting each family’s story. Her Spanish-speaking support also helps Nueva Vida continue building a more welcoming, culturally connected care experience for Humboldt families.

How Carla Supports Families

Certified doula care with calm presence and cultural awareness.

Carla supports families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and family transition. Her care may include prenatal preparation, emotional reassurance, birth planning, comfort measures, partner support, labor support, postpartum check-ins, and helping families feel more confident in their next step.

As a Nueva Vida-trained certified doula, Carla is supported by the broader Nueva Vida team and care model while bringing her own strengths: Spanish-speaking support, cultural awareness, gentle presence, and a thoughtful eye for the emotional environment around birth.

From Storytelling to Birth Support

A storyteller’s eye and a doula’s steady presence.

Before becoming a doula, Carla built a creative background in film, photography, and documentary storytelling. That experience shaped her ability to observe carefully, honor people’s stories, notice the environment, and stay present in meaningful moments.

Documentary work requires patience, observation, respect, and the ability to witness people’s experiences without taking over the story. Those same qualities matter in birth. In the birth room, Carla brings an observant and grounded presence that helps families feel seen, supported, and respected.
